Where we are supposed to be

Tim and Jennifer Goshorn and their three children are in language school in Costa Rica. After a year of language school, the Goshorns will relocate to Peru to serve as missionaries. Here, Tim shares a story of adjusting to life in Costa Rica and how the Lord confirmed that they are exactly where He wants them to be.

We have had a tough time with the transition to living in Costa Rica, and yesterday was a hard day. Between language school, hours of homework, helping our children adjust, living in a place in which we cannot understand anyone around us, and plenty of large insects and geckos in our home, we were just tired.

A mother and her daughter who live in our neighborhood came over to our house today. They asked to clean our home. Jennifer asked how much they would charge, but we couldn't get an answer from them. Not sure what to do, we let them clean the house.

Six hours later, the women had cleaned the entire house – walls, floors, ceiling, everything. I was worried because I knew that I couldn’t afford their services. They finished cleaning and Jennifer prepared a dessert and we all sat down to eat. They told us that they would like to clean our house for the year that we will be living here.

The mother said, “We see Jesus in you and know that you are serving Him, so we want to serve you at no charge." This family is probably the poorest in our neighborhood. They have three generations living in a little one-bedroom house.

God’s timing is perfect. Just when we were weary, God sent this family to encourage us. We do not need to wonder why we are here.
