Lauren* was approved as a Mission Intern with The Mission Society early this year. She will spend six months in an undisclosed location this summer, ministering to Muslims in the Middle East. Since January, she has been fund-raising for her trip. While praying about her budget, God impressed upon Lauren that He would provide her plane ticket for free.
“Sometimes God has me ask for things, or to partner with Him in order to receive something, but this time it felt like it was a promise. The ticket was going to be a gift from God, and He had told me long before I received it that I would have it before I left,” said Lauren.
During her fund-raising, Lauren asked for Delta SkyMiles points and buddy passes. Several people gave her their SkyMiles, but the total wasn’t nearly enough to cover the cost of her flight.
A few weeks before her departure date, Lauren started to worry and saw that ticket prices were now more than $3,000 to her field of service. People told her that she needed a plan and needed to go ahead and purchase the ticket. “I kept reassuring them that the plan was that God was going to give me a ticket,” she said.
Lauren explains, “A dear friend called me and asked for all my contact information, because his brother-in-law wanted to give me his buddy pass. A man I don’t even know! This has been the hardest, yet most rewarding season. I’ve seen how God has prepared and provided my heart and my pocket before leaving to be with His people. New lessons are always to be learned, but this day the lesson was to never forget His promises - even those that seem written in the sky and invisible, either for now, or for later. God always provides, and never how we plan it. His ways are higher than our ways, and I am so glad they are.”
